Half Bottle Niepoort 'Tawny Dee' Tawny Port
Niepoort Tawny Dee, with an average age of three and a half years, originates from low yielding vineyards in the Cima Corgo region of Douro Valley. The grapes are predominantly trodden in lagares, prior to ageing in small old oak casks at the maker's lodges in Vila Nova de Gaia.
The wine is brick red/tawny in colour, with delicate nutty aromas and a hint of dried fruits. On the palate, it's very well balanced with a youthful fruity, luscious character, leading to a long spirity finish.
It pairs very well with hard cow's milk cheeses, such as Coolea, Gruyère and Appleby's Cheshire.
Made by Dirk Niepoort, the fifth generation of the Niepoort family, who have been making wine in the Douro Valley in Portugal since 1842.
